What is Galamian about?

1) Ivan Galamian was a prominent violin teacher at the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard School of Music. Galamian proposed a more relaxed method for playing the violin. 2) Galamian criticized rigid methods and emphasized the importance of the relationship between the mind and the muscles. 3) For Galamian, technique should serve artistic and musical interpretation, not be an end in itself. The goal is to achieve an interpretation that seems improvised.
