Several methods for recovering ionic liquids (ILs) from ILs/water mixtures are described. Magnetic separation was used to separate [Bmim][FeCl4] rich phase. Ultrasonic atomization recovered over 95% of [Bmim][BF4] from a 50% aqueous solution. Microwave irradiation also allowed full recovery of various ILs from ILs/water mixtures, faster than conventional distillation.
