The 2011 Cricket World Cup was hosted in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh from February 19th to April 2nd. It was the first time Bangladesh co-hosted the event. Originally, Pakistan was also set to co-host but lost its hosting rights due to security concerns after the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team. India went on to defeat Sri Lanka in the final, becoming the first nation to win a World Cup final on home soil. Yuvraj Singh of India was named player of the tournament.
