Saint Nicholas, born to wealthy and pious parents, dedicated his life to God and became known for his acts of charity, including secretly providing dowries for poor girls to prevent their exploitation. He was elected bishop of Myra, where he performed numerous miracles, such as calming storms at sea and saving innocent men from execution. After his death in 343, his tomb became a source of miraculous oil, and his remains were later moved to Bari, Italy, where he is still venerated today.
