What is Influence of Vanadium and Chromium Additions On The Wear Resistance of A Gray Cast Iron about?
The study investigates the wear resistance of low-alloy gray cast iron with vanadium and chromium additions compared to untreated gray cast iron. Results show that the alloyed cast iron exhibits up to 89% less wear loss under severe loading conditions, attributed to the formation of harder carbides and different wear mechanisms. Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis reveal significant differences in the wear mechanisms and tribochemical films formed on the surfaces of both alloys
