What is Teflon about?

Teflon fiber is produced from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer through free-radical polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) gas under high pressure with an initiator like benzoyl peroxide. Teflon fiber has excellent chemical and thermal stability as well as electrical insulation properties. It is used to make non-stick coatings for cookware and fabrics, lubricious medical implants, insulators, and armor-piercing bullets.
