About this document
History of Administrative Counties in UK by tiffsrecords1985 is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Administrative counties were first-level administrative divisions in England, Wales, and Ireland from 1888 to 1974, with their boundaries largely retained in modern counties. They were created by the Local Government Act 1888 in England and Wales, and similar legislation in Ireland, but were abolished in the 1970s and 2000s. The term is still used in some contexts to differentiate modern counties from historical ones.
