What is Preparing Calcium Carbonate from Eggshells about?
Calcium carbonate can be prepared from eggshells by first roasting the shells to change their color from brown to black. The shells are then ground into a powder and placed in a container with natural vinegar. Over 7-14 days, the vinegar reacts with the calcium carbonate in the shells, releasing carbon dioxide bubbles and creating a water soluble calcium solution. This calcium carbonate preparation can be stored for up to a year and used by applying 1-2 tablespoons per liter as a plant foliar spray or soil
