This document summarizes two studies that assessed the effects of the hallucinogenic drug STP, which was found to contain 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methyl-amphetamine (DOM), in normal volunteers. In low doses, DOM produced mild euphoria but doses over 3 mg caused pronounced hallucinogenic effects similar to LSD, lasting about 8 hours. DOM was found to be about 100 times more potent than mescaline as a hallucinogen. Psychological effects were not intensified by the tranquilizer chlorpromazine.
