About this Engineering article
Assessment of Operability and Structural Integrity of a Vertical Pump for Extreme Loads by D.S. Chawla; R.S. Soni; H.S. Kushwaha is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.
In pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWRs), vertical centrifugal pumps are used in various safety related systems on account of space constraints. These pumps are not only required to be structurally safe under the normal, abnormal as well extreme Ioading conditions, but also must remain functional during and after the occurrence of an extreme loading condition such as a seismic event. Presented herein is the detailed methodology adopted for the structural assessment of one of such pump-motor units which was originally designed using the API-610 standard and was subsequently qualified for nuclear service as per ASME code Section III Subsection NC.
It is typically read by researchers, students, and practitioners in Engineering.
