The study investigates the impact of extended contact through various types of ingroup relationships on outgroup trust among Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. Results indicate that closer ingroup relationships (friends and family) lead to higher outgroup trust compared to more distant relationships (neighbors and colleagues), and that the effectiveness of extended contact is moderated by the closeness of the ingroup relationship.
