This study investigates the relationship between posterior malleolus fractures and the development of osteoarthritis in young adults. A retrospective analysis of 45 patients revealed that larger posterior fragment sizes were associated with a higher incidence of early-onset osteoarthritis and poorer functional outcomes. The findings suggest that ankle fractures involving the posterior malleolus may lead to significant long-term complications, including functional limitations.
