Gardner C. Taylor is considered the dean of American preaching. He was a close friend and mentor to Martin Luther King Jr. and played a prominent role in the Civil Rights Movement. Taylor preached for over 50 years and was pastor at Concord Baptist Church in Brooklyn for 42 years. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Bill Clinton for his work as a preacher and civil rights activist. The Interdenominational Theological Center now houses the Gardner C. Taylor Archives and Preaching Lab
