What is Optimization of Resistive Type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter and Circuit Breaker in Hybrid HVDC Transmission System about?

To more efficiently deal with the DC fault problem of a hybrid HVDC transmission system, this paper puts forward a collaborative optimization of resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) and DC circuit breaker (DCCB). A multiobjective function is constructed to collaboratively optimize the SFCL resistance and the breaking capability of the DCCB, and the elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm is applied to achieve the Pareto solution set. In this study, a 320 kV hybrid HVDC transmission system is selected to test the performance of the proposed optimization approach. In terms of the optimization results, the DC fault current could be effectively limited and interrupted using the minimal size of the SFCL and the DCCB. The applicability and feasibility of the proposed collaborative optimization approach are well verified.
