This study investigates the effect of dexmedetomidine on emergence agitation and postoperative pain in patients undergoing upper limb orthopedic surgery. The results show that dexmedetomidine significantly reduces the incidence of emergence agitation (14.7% vs. 48.0%) and lowers pain scores compared to a placebo. These findings suggest that dexmedetomidine may be a beneficial adjunct in anesthetic practice to improve recovery outcomes in this patient population.
