The First Community Cooperative was formerly known as the Ateneo Credit Union, which was established in 1960 and was the first credit union in Misamis Oriental and Mindanao. It was founded by 15 pioneers from Ateneo de Cagayan, now known as Xavier University, with total initial deposits of 26.30 pesos.
