The use of infrared thermography in nuclear power generating stations is described in this paper. The technique is a visual representation of heat patterns, usually displayed on a television screen or photographic films. Low and the more usual raised temperatures can be indicative of many problems in nuclear generating plants. Advantages of the system such as easily retrievable image recording, temperature resolution and image interpretation. A number of applications are suggested.
