What is Kadambas of Hangal: History and Emblem about?

The Kadambas of Hangal were a junior branch of the Kadambas dynasty, ruling from around 969 CE to 1347 CE as feudatories of the Kalyana Chalukyas. Hangal served as the capital of a subordinate unit consisting of 500 villages and has historical significance dating back to the Mahabharata era. The dynasty is noted for its royal emblem of a lion and its family deity, Madhukeshwara of Banavasi.
