Rene Favaloro was an Argentine cardiac surgeon who performed the first coronary artery bypass surgery. He founded the Favaloro Foundation in Argentina to teach medicine and train over 450 surgeons. Despite his successes, he grew frustrated by lack of support and died by suicide in 2000. His life demonstrated selfless service through his pioneering heart surgeries and efforts to establish world-class medical facilities in Argentina.
