This study compared the effects of en masse retraction (ER) and two-step retraction (TSR) techniques on anchorage control and anterior retraction in 48 patients requiring extraction of four first premolars. The results showed no significant differences between the techniques in terms of anchorage loss or incisor movement. Both techniques resulted in similar posterior anchorage loss and a similar degree of anterior retraction.
