The study analyzed concentrations of nicotine and minor nicotine-related alkaloids (NRAs) in five brands of e-liquids purchased locally using HPLC. The amounts of NRAs present in e-liquids and e-cigarette aerosol were found to be substantially lower than in conventional cigarettes and cigarette smoke. However, inconsistencies in nicotine concentrations between bottles of the same brand supports the need for regulatory oversight of e-liquid manufacturing.
