What is Augustine about?

Augustine ended a relationship with his concubine in 385-386 in order to prepare for an arranged marriage. After hearing about the life of St. Anthony of Egypt from friends, he converted to Christianity in 386 in a garden in Milan at age 32. Inspired by his reading of Neoplatonic texts and conversations with Simplicianus, Augustine resigned his teaching position and retired to Cassiciacum with friends to reflect on his new faith.
