The former focuses on an emergence of a community system for the entrepreneur, the latter contributes a stimulating article in a sometimes humorous manner. In chapter 5, the author, Aldrich, highlights the entrepreneurs' lack of leverage and constraints, particularly in the wider social context, which can ultimately lead to an early failure instead of the intended success. In the following chapter, Cooper attempts to determine what factors in ̄uence the performance of start-up-®rms, using the results thereof for evaluation of other start-ups. Following on nicely from this is chapter 7, `Theory building in the entrepreneurship paradigm', in which the author, Bygrave, debates whether chaos theory could be an appropriate mathematical model to measure non-linear entrepreneurial activities. Chapters 8 and 9 analyse and offer conclusions of the previous chapters. Overall, both a challenging and eminently readable collection of articles which will undoubtedly result in much further development, discussion and debate b
