What is Radio Link Failure in LTE Systems about?

Radio link failure (RLF) can be detected by both the UE and eNodeB. The UE detects RLF if the measured RSRP is too low, it fails to decode PDCCH/PDSCH due to low signal quality, or the maximum number of RLC retransmissions is reached. The eNodeB detects RLF if the SRS power from the UE is much lower than configured or it fails to detect ACKs/NACKs from the UE. When RLF is detected, the UE and eNodeB will initiate the RRC connection reestablishment procedure.
