The International Space Station is the largest and most complicated scientific project to date. It revolves in low Earth orbit, completing one revolution every 90 minutes, and serves as a microgravity laboratory involving 15 member nations including the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada, and countries in the European Space Agency. Components were launched starting in 1998 with the last pressurized module added in 2011 to create a habitat where research can be conducted on the space environment.
