What is Student Affairs : Experiencing Higher Education about?
The production of this book proved to be a model of what a collaborative endeavour can and should be. Although each author was responsible for her or his own chapter, the collective wisdom and energy of the group, from beginning to end, provided the creative milieu within which ideas could be developed, nurtured, challenged, and refined. On many occasions, each chapter was scrutinized by the team of contributors to ensure clarity of themes, voice, and relevance to policy, practice, theory, and further research. We include Jean Wilson from UBC Press in our definition of "team" and thank her for teaching the group about the publication process, related pitfalls, and strategies for success. This volume benefited greatly from the careful comments and criticisms from class members of HIED 510 -Foundations of Higher Education, a graduate course within the Adult and Higher Education Program at UBC -who rose to the challenge of being forced to criticize not only the book but also their instructor!
