What is Sangkuriang and Tangkuban Perahu Legend about?

The story describes Amir Hasan, the son of Sunan Muria who was sent to study religion with his uncle Sunan Kudus. He became an obedient young man and was later asked by his father to spread Islam to an island visible from their mountain home. Amir Hasan and his companions sailed to the island, now called Karimunjava Island, and lived there, establishing Islam as instructed.
