What is Understanding ETA: History and Impact about?

ETA is one of the oldest terrorist organisations in the world, formed in 1959 to conduct attacks in support of Basque independence. It seeks to create an independent Basque state in northern Spain and southwestern France through violence. While ETA has targeted government officials and symbols, it usually issues warnings for its attacks to avoid civilian casualties. In recent decades it has weakened due to government crackdowns but still carries out occasional bombings in Spain.
