What is Understanding Osmosis and Osmotic Pressure about?

Osmosis is the process by which solvent molecules pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution to a more concentrated one until equilibrium is reached or osmotic pressure is applied. Osmotic pressure is the pressure required to stop the flow of solvent and depends on the number of moles of solute but not its nature. It can be used to measure molar mass and is better than other methods as it uses pressure measurements at room temperature.
