What is Editorial about?
The Society has approximately 650 members, representing all forms of microscopy. Of the 60 scientific presentations in the meeting, the 12 papers published herein are a representative group, with examples from light, electron and scanned probe microscopies. All papers were refereed according to the standard practices of the journal. It is particularly fitting that the lead article in this first special issue dedicated to an Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society should highlight the beginnings of electron microscopy in Canada, as told by Dr J.
