The document examines the impact of religiosity on the profitability and stability of Islamic banks in Indonesia. Using data from 146 Islamic rural banks from 2012 to 2015, it finds that Islamic banks located in more religious provinces have better profitability and stability, especially small Islamic banks and those outside of Java island. However, the effect of religiosity on Islamic bank performance is still inconclusive based on prior studies.
