What is ICPL 87119: Pigeonpea Disease Resistance about?

ICPL 87119 is a high-yielding pigeonpea variety that is resistant to fusarium wilt and sterility mosaic diseases. It was developed by ICRISAT through breeding and selection. Field trials found ICPL 87119 to have a 20% higher yield than the main control variety. It also showed very high resistance to the two major diseases compared to susceptible control varieties. For these reasons, ICPL 87119 was identified for release and cultivation in central and southern India.
