About this document

Understanding the Windows Key Functions by Sush is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The Windows key was originally introduced on Microsoft Natural keyboards before Windows 95. It became a standard key on PC keyboards after Windows 95 to access the Start menu and use keyboard shortcuts. Historically, the addition of two Windows keys and a menu key changed the keyboard layout from 101/102 keys to 104/105 keys, placing the Windows keys between Ctrl and Alt. On laptops there is usually a single Windows key on the left side.
