Socrates was standing outside the gates of Athens when he noticed a traveler staring at him. The traveler asked what it was like to live in Athens. Socrates asked about his previous city first. The man said everyone stabbed you in the back and wanted your money, so Socrates suggested he go elsewhere. Later, another man asked about living in Athens. Socrates again asked about his previous city, and the man said the people were kind and respectful, so Socrates welcomed him to Athens.
