B.o.B was born in 1988 in North Carolina and showed an early interest in music, playing trumpet in school bands. Though his parents wanted him to pursue further education, he was determined to have a music career. He began selling beats and performing at open mics in his teens. In 2006, he met producer T.J. Chapman who signed him to Atlantic Records. His first single for Atlantic, "Haterz Everywhere", reached the top five of the Billboard Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart, beginning his rise to fame.
