About this document
Sunflower Yield Insights for Kenya by Kelvin Ngugi is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Sunflower can be grown as a cash crop for cooking oil, animal feed, and soap. Several varieties have been tested in Kenya with yields ranging from 12 to 24 bags per acre and oil content from 37-44%. Proper planting, weeding, pest and disease control are required to achieve good yields. Harvesting is done by hand when heads turn deep yellow and drying the heads quickly prevents rotting and bird damage.
