What is Fragmentation of Artist Awards in HK about?

The document discusses the fragmentation of artist award schemes in Hong Kong and analyzes different perspectives on this issue. There is a clear path for singers and athletes to gain recognition through awards, but the visual arts field lacks a unified award system. While the Hong Kong Arts Development Council award seeks to fill this role, some painters argue it commercializes art and favors established artists. These painters prefer direct government support without awards to allow focus on creative work
