What is Low-Temperature Shape Memory Alloys about?

This project developed and tested low-temperature shape memory alloys that can actuate between 0-150°C for use in adaptive autonomous systems. The objectives were to design novel 2-way shape memory alloys that can operate at cryogenic temperatures, and evaluate their performance and actuation temperatures in prototype systems. Successful development of these alloys could enable new applications in space and aerospace requiring lightweight adaptive structures that can function in cryogenic environments.
