In a retrospective cohort study of 6 patients (2 men and 4 women) aged 41-77 years were described, who developed mucositis, diarrhoea, febrile neutropenia, rash, alopecia, nausea, colitis, drug toxicity or hand-foot syndrome during treatment with capecitabine or fluorouracil [5-fluorouracil] for colon cancer [routes, dosages and outcomes not stated; not all duration of treatments to reactions onset stated]. Patient 1: A 59-year-old woman developed mucositis, diarrhoea, febrile neutropenia and rash during treatment with capecitabine for colon cancer. The woman, who had stage 4 colon cancer, started receiving chemotherapy with capecitabine and bevacizumab. During the chemotherapy cycle 1, she developed febrile neutropenia, grade 3 mucositis, grade 3 diarrhoea and grade 2 rash. She subsequently showed a progressive disease. She received thymine without any adverse effect. Patient 2: A 73-year-old woman developed mucositis, diarrhoea, febrile neutropenia, alopecia and rash during treatment with fluorouracil for colon cancer.
