What is UPSC Civil Services Vacancy Trends 2017 about?

Civil Service vacancies have decreased for the fourth consecutive year, with only 980 positions notified for 2017, down from 1,079 the previous year. This reduction has led to increased competition among candidates, as seen in the last selection process where 15,445 candidates were chosen for Mains from over 1 million applicants. The decline in IAS/IPS posts has been ongoing since 2014, when there were 1,291 vacancies reported.
