Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is a colorless, volatile liquid that is used as an industrial solvent. It can enter the body through inhalation or skin absorption, where it is rapidly distributed and metabolized in the liver. High levels of MEK inhalation can cause respiratory irritation and symptoms like coughing, wheezing, dizziness and headaches. Skin contact may lead to irritation.
