Bandung Bondowoso seeks to meet his father and inherits his kingdom. He wishes to marry Roro Jonggrang, but she sets a challenge for him to build 1000 temples overnight. Through magic, Bandung builds 999 temples, but Roro tricks the magic workers into thinking morning has come. When the count is short one temple, Roro refuses to marry him. In anger, Bandung transforms Roro into the 1000th temple, completing the challenge. The temples later become known as Prambanan temples.
