His book, MY CHILDREN, MY HEROES - MEMOIRS OF A HOLOCAUST MOTHER, is a testament to his mother, whose incredible survival instincts enabled her to save her two very young children. She escaped the massacres in her town by hiding with her children in the backyard under the outhouse, a small area dug out of the earth by her husband. Then, under the cover of darkness, she made her escape to join with the Jewish Partisans (resistance fighters) in the forests of Belorussia. She wrote her WWII memoirs in Yiddish, which her son Harold translated into English. He then added his childhood memories plus descriptions of some of the Jewish Partisan battles against the German forces and their collaborators.
