Cro Magnons were the earliest humans found in Europe from 40,000 to 60,000 years ago. They had large brains and bodies, and left behind remains of huts, cave paintings, carvings and tools. Cave paintings from this period, done in red and yellow ochre around 40,000 years ago, mostly depicted large animals like bison and horses.
