This study aimed to evaluate the use of visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) as an alternative to Pap smear for cervical cancer screening. The study involved screening 200 women using both VIA and Pap smear. Colposcopy and biopsy were also performed. VIA detected abnormalities in 12% of women and Pap smear detected abnormalities in 4%.
