Dawud (as) was a young boy from the Banu Israel tribe who volunteered to fight the giant warrior Jalut, leader of the Philistines, when no one else would. With only a slingshot and a stone, Dawud (as) prayed to Allah for help and defeated Jalut. Years later, Dawud (as) became a prophet and was made king of Jerusalem by Allah. As king for 40 years, Dawud (as) brought peace and was given revelations collected in the Zabur. He began rebuilding Masjid al-Aqsa but died before completing it, with his son Sulayman
