This dissertation focuses on producing hydrocarbons from lignin-derived compounds for fuels and chemicals using high-pressure catalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO). A bimetallic platinum and molybdenum catalyst supported on carbon nanotubes was found to completely remove oxygen from lignin compounds, producing hydrocarbons in 100% yield.
