What is Motion anticipation about?

In all sensory systems, there are unavoidable delays between events in the environment and neural signals. Thus, the image currently represented in your brain captures the state of the world about 60 milliseconds in the past. For quickly moving objects, this delay is significant. If it were not accounted for, you could never hit a tennis serve and this kingfisher would never catch its prey. The anticipation of an object’s future position begins in the retina and leads to many powerful visual illusions.
