What is Increase of Impurity During Fine Grinding about?

Abstract\_Recently, sub-micron powder has become of general interest in many fields of industry, especially in the production of the high-performance ceramics. From this background, ultra-fine grinding operations have become attractive for preparation of the starting powder for sintering. The fine powder produced by grinding might becontaminated bythe wear of grinding media and mill container. This contamination problem is unavoidable for grinding inthe sub-micron region. Inthis presentation, the contamination of powder during ultra-fine grinding is reviewed from papers based on experiments ofpreparing ceramics powder. ## 1. Introduction Recently, high-performance ceramics have attracted special interest in the application to engineering materials. Improving the reliability of ceramics is the key point for its practical use as an engineering material. Inorder to produce ceramics of high reliability, it is necessary to form the microstructural homogeneity of the sintered body using controlled processing. This requires the preparation of a starting powder with suitable sintering characteristics. 'Sub-micron and high purity' powder with a small size distribution of particles, the shap
