This document provides instructions for using the Elecsys IgE II electrochemiluminescence immunoassay to quantify immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels in human serum and plasma. IgE plays an important role in allergic reactions and diseases. The test uses a sandwich immunoassay technique to detect IgE levels in 10 microliter sample volumes. Results are provided in 18 minutes to aid in the diagnosis of allergic conditions. The reagents have a 12 week open-bottle stability when stored at 2-8°C.
